Biography

Genaro Graña Gil (A Coruña, 1960) is a Rheumatologist at the University Hospital A Coruña (CHUAC) since 1989, after he performed his speciality in Rheumatology (1985- 1989). He was Residents’ Chief from 1997-2004. He holds a degree in Medicine from the University of Santiago de Compostela (1983) and a PhD from the University of A Coruña (1998) having received a Doctorate Extraordinary Prize (2000).

Graña-Gil is the Representative of Galicia in the Institutional Committee for the elaboration of the Strategies Documents on Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases in Childhood, Adolescence and Autoimmune Systemic Diseases, of the Spanish National System of Health – Ministry of Health, Consumers Affairs and Social Services.

He acted as Vocal of the Spanish Society of Rheumatology (1995-1998) and as President of the Galician Society of Rheumatology (1998-2002). He belongs to other distinguished professional societies, such as, SOGARE, SER, SERPE, SEIOMM, IBDS. His areas of clinical interest and specialization are paediatric rheumatology, osteoporosis, Behçet’s disease, consulting coordination between primary and specialized care.
