My name is Andrea Dalmao Fernández and I am a graduate of A Coruña University holding a degree in Biology Science, with first class honours in my final year dissertation, 2015. I had the opportunity to do an internship at the Biomedical Investigation Institute at A Coruña (INIBIC). I studied a Master's Degree in Health Care and Research specialized in Biomedical Research Foundation at the same university, obtaining a first class honours in the field of Rheumatology in INIBIC.

Currently, continuing with my formation in the field of biomedical research, I am currently enrolled in a PhD program of Health Sciences at A Coruña University, under the direct supervision of Dr. Francisco Javier Blanco García and Dra. Mercedes Fernández Moreno. The aim of my thesis is to develop an in vitro cell model, named transmitochondrial cybrids, which highlights the role of mitochondria in Osteoarthritis. The characterization of this model in different scenes representative of the pathology will be carried out for studying the response to several stimuli.
