My name is Tamara Hermida Gómez and I graduated in Biology in 2003 at Universidade of A Coruña (UDC) and obtained my Master Degree in Medical Assistance and Research (2007–2008). In 2010, I defended my PhD in the “Clinical Medicine: Advances and Research” program of the Department of Medicine (UDC) with the thesis “Descriptive study of mesenchymal stem cells in the osteoarthritic joint, and their application in cellular therapy to repair human articular cartilage”, performed in the GIR at the Instituto de Investigación Biomédica de A Coruña and awarded summa cum laude. Since 2003 my research has been focused on Cellular Therapy and Tissue Engineering, acquiring extensive experience in human and animal cell isolation and culture, immunohistochemical, immunocytochemical and biochemical techniques, optical and fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. I am also experienced in the generation, maintenance and stabilization of mitochondrial cybrids. I own an official certification for animal manipulation and the performance of in vivo models. I have co-authored 25 scientific publications (including 3 book chapters) and participated in multiple national and international congresses.
